About The Pink Place

cancer support group based in & around North Hampshire

Formed out of Experience

The Pink Place was founded in 2010 by Julia Dingwall and Janis Taylor, two local ladies who spotted the need for this kind of compassionate support in the Basingstoke area.

Julia, diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007, had her hair cut and cared for during and after treatment by her friend Janis, owner of Taylors Hair and Beauty Salon.

The Pink Place

'A warm, friendly, calm and welcoming environment, away from the stresses of a clinical hospital'

The Pink Place Environment

Julia and Janis decided they wanted a local centre, away from the clinical hospital environment. The Pink Place was created as a friendly, warm and welcoming environment.

It opened its doors to its first guests on 13th September 2010, initially offering (free of charge) therapies, support and advice to ladies with breast cancer. This later expanded to ladies with any form of cancer and eventually to men too through The Blue Space.

When you have cancer, it affects your body, your mind and your heart. Sometimes the body is the easiest part to heal.

At the Pink and Blue Place people find a space and support to help with the difficult job of healing their heads and hearts. This is important work and they are special people.

The Pink Place provides the support that our cancer patients and their partners need, in a friendly and welcoming environment.

Meeting other people who have cancer and receiving gentle therapies such as massage and counselling is an important part of recovery after a cancer diagnosis. The breast team at Basingstoke are very grateful that this superb facility is available in our local area.
