Complementary therapies are gentle treatments that can be used alongside conventional treatments to help with your health and well-being.
These treatments are provided in a relaxed setting by our team of therapists, who are all qualified and trained to provide complementary therapy treatments to those with a cancer diagnosis, both during and beyond treatment.
New guests are able to access four FREE appointments, after which we ask for a donation to support our running costs.
Massage involves a variety of gentle soothing techniques along with some slightly deeper movements to help with relaxation, muscle pain and tension. Treatments may be carried out seated or on a couch.
This is a gentle, relaxing, hands-on treatment. Involving gentle holding and small moves to the head and a relaxing foot massage. you remain fully clothed, and usually lie on the couch for this treatment.
This treatment focuses on the neck, shoulders, arms and head. It can be carried out through clothing and can help relieve tension in these areas.
Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils; natural plant extracts, which as well as being fragrant, have a range of therapeutic properties. Essential oils can be blended into a carrier for use in a massage treatment or added to creams and lotions or used in an inhaler or a diffuser.
A gentle treatment for the face – individually tailored which can include a cleanse, tone and moisturise routine, massage to the face, neck and shoulders and incorporating hand and arm massage and skincare advice.
Prior to your first appointment you will be asked to complete a health questionnaire – this enables us to provide a safe and suitable treatment for you – your therapist will explain what will happen during your session and give you the opportunity to ask any questions – you will be then either left to undress and get onto the couch (massage) or asked to remove your shoes and socks and lie on the couch (reflexology).
The room is low lit, warmed or cooled according to your needs, relaxing music is played and you are encouraged to relax and close your eyes. Following the treatment you will be given a short time to relax and gently get ready before leaving.
Massage can be carried out through the clothes, particularly during an Indian head massage appointment.
You may wish to remain seated in a chair with a towel around you to receive a neck and shoulder massage if you are unsure about undressing for a back massage – your modesty is protected at all times.
For reflexology you will be asked to take off your shoes and socks
cranio sacral therapy is carried out while you remain fully clothed – you may wish to receive a foot massage and so will need to remove your shoes and socks
We have a range of pillows, supports and cushions in order to make sure you are comfortable, massage can be carried out while lying on your side on the couch if required. A shorter session can be provided to see how comfortable you are on the couch and we always take time ensuring you are comfortable before starting your therapy.
We generally advise you book in a one hour appointment. This allows adequate time for discussion with the therapist, planning the treatment, getting comfortable on the couch and having time at the end to get dressed and ready and avoid rushing.
